SKIN & HAIR FACTS
-
The skin serves the vital function of shielding the body’s organs from the outside world, trauma, infection, heat, and cold. This action is similar to the outer frame of a house safeguarding the interior.
-
The hair, an extension of the skin, is tasked with safeguarding the skin. This action is like the shingles of a roof.
THE PICTURE BELOW SHOWS THE ANATOMY OF THE SKIN AND HAIR
The skin is broken down into two parts: the dermis (inside, the part we don’t see) and the epidermis (outside, the part we see, put clothes on, apply products to)
The hair, one unit, begins inside the skin (the dermis) and extends through the outer part of the skin (the epidermis).

SKIN
Skin covers the entire body. Its serves as a barrier of protection for our internal organs and against external elements. The skin also regulates body temperature and detect sensation.
HAIR
Hair can be found all over the body, excluding palms of hands, soles of the feet, and lips. It regulate body temperature, protects the skin from foreign particles and also alerts our senses. As stated above, the hair is a derivative(appendage) of the skin. The formation of the hair(internal structure) starts within the skin and depends on it for nutrients.
